This page covers the series that I’ve written scripts for (and, in many cases, also been Script Editor on). For the majority, this was alongside producing/audio producing them. See the TV PRODUCTION page for details of those roles.

INDEPENDENT (1995-PRESENT)

Writer on THEY’RE ALL OUT TO GET HUGH (UK Film Council movie script)
Writer of development projects and pilots for 10+ TV companies, alongside many direct pitches

  • Writer of pilots (and sample episode scripts) for Idea Hat Productions, Springboard Pictures, Ivy House Productions and many more during the 2010s and 2020s.
  • Writer of storylines, narrative breakdowns and series pitch decks for Soho Studios, Money Management, the National Film & Television School, Idea Hat and others from 2022 (ongoing).
  • In addition to work for various companies that you’ll find elsewhere on this page, I’ve also pitched many scripts directly to broadcasters over the years.
  • The UK Film Council fully funded an animated movie script I created and co-wrote.

OMENS STUDIOS (2022-2024)

Writer on 123 NUMBER SQUAD (Series 2) Animated preschool series and winner of Broadcast Best Preschool Programme 2024

COSGROVE HALL (2013-2019)

Writer on PIP AHOY! (Series 1-4) Animated preschool series sold worldwide inc ITV/C5 in the UK
Writer on MAGIC MARLON (Series 1-2) Animated preschool project for C5

  • I wrote scripts on a freelance basis for two preschool series produced by Cosgrove Hall Fitzpatrick, the recent incarnation of the legendary studio behind Count Duckula and Dangermouse.
  • Pip Ahoy! has a huge range of merchandise behind it and remains popular on various linear and streaming platforms in the 2020s across a large number of territories.
  • As with all the other script work listed on this page, my role involved creating the entire episode script, from coming up with the original storyline idea through various iterations right through to the final draft/polish. I was honoured to have episodes I wrote chosen as the launch episodes for both Series 2 and Series 4 of Pip Ahoy!

IMPOSSIBLE TV (1998-2013)

Writer on ANGELS OF JARM (two 2D CG preschool series for C5)
Writer on THE BEEPS (two 3D CG preschool series, C5)
Writer/Script Editor on BIRD BATH (two 3D CG preschool series, C5)

Lead Writer/Script Editor on AUDREY & FRIENDS (2D CG children’s series, C5)
Lead Writer/Script Editor on TOOMUCH TV (3D CG children’s magazine show, C5)
Lead Writer/Script Editor on GINGER’S SECRETS (3D CG comedy shorts for C4)
Lead Writer/Script Editor on 4LATER MOTEL (3D CG comedy shorts, late night C4)

Sole Writer on BITE ME/HUBBA BUBBA (shortform CG series for MTV/Nickelodeon)
Sole Writer on SIT.COM (C4) and TECHTOYS (C5) live action filmed pilots
Writer on various (50+) development projects: preschool, children’s and adult

  • For fifteen years I was (on top of producer duties) the in-house writer for Impossible Television.
  • I wrote around 300 broadcast episodes for them, acting as script editor on around double that.
  • The vast majority of these shows are preschool animation series, but there are some adult and older children’s projects in there too.
  • I also wrote dozens of pilot scripts, many of which were successfully used to raise animation funding from broadcasters, commercial brands, investors and individuals.

MIRROR TELEVISION (1996-1997)

Lead Writer/Script Editor on BOYBAND (120 episode CGI children’s series)
Sole Writer on EVA’S 70s POP SHOW (L!VE TV music programme that ran to several series)

  • I spent a year working full-time for the Mirror Group in the rarefied heights of Canary Wharf.
  • Primarily this was as Lead Writer (later Sole Writer) on an animated series based around a real life pop group for which I scripted more than 70 episodes.
  • Although I worked for Mirror Television (the parent company) rather than its L!VE TV channel, I also scripted several series for the latter.

HEWLAND INTERNATIONAL (1995-96)

Sole Writer on THE GEEKS (Series 1) CITV live action children’s celebrity sitcom
Writer on GAMES WORLD: BTV (Sky One sitcom about video games)

  • My first job in TV was as a researcher on BTV. I was also asked to script several key episodes of this series, which starred David Walliams (this was his first job in TV too).
  • On the basis of these scripts, I was headhunted internally to write The Geeks. Initially the plan was for me to write the series alongside/under a well known and very experienced scriptwriter, but the company felt confident enough to choose me as sole writer for the entire project.
  • This was the most glamorous job in TV I’ve had. It largely involved sitting in a studio in Kings Cross, thinking of outlandish storylines (and writing accompanying lines) for guest stars.
  • These included Boyzone, East 17, Catherine Zeta Jones, Ant & Dec, Dale Winton, Bob Holness, 2Unlimited, Billie Piper, stars from EastEnders and Coronation Street, and dozens of others.

Drop me an e-mail HERE if you’d like to see sample scripts (where available) from any of the above shows.
